COVID-19 update March 30th 2020

 

We can't issue prescriptions early or give you more just in case - the pharmacies are struggling already, you don't want the pharmacies to be like the supermarkets

 

We can't give you an inhaler even though you had one 5 years ago when you had a bad cough - just in case.  lots of people need these inhalers and if you get one just in case they might not be able to get one that they really need.

 

We can't give you paracetamol on prescription just because you can't buy it over the counter

 

We can't advise you whether you should or shouldn't self isolate if you are at risk, we have a considerable number of patients, please follow the guidance

 

If you are due to have a routine GP appointment and we tell you it is cancelled, try and understand the unprecedented strain we are trying to get through

 

Please don't shout at our GP staff when they can't do these things because remember we will still make sure you get the medication you NEED and we will still provide the best possible care - over the phone or face to face if absolutely necessary

 

Remember we are doing this to help keep you safe

 

COVID-19 update March 16th 2020

 

Dear Patients, Northern Moor Medical Practice will be cancelling all routine, face to face, non-essential GP appointments at the practice.  All GP appointments will be book on the day, telephone triage only and we will be moving to a closed door policy.

 

If you need to attend the practice, an intercom will be in use to talk to the reception team and they will enable access to the building if you have a pre-booked appointment.

 

If you are dropping off/collecting from the practice, you will be met at the door for handover

 

Please be assured this is to help protect our patients and staff to enable us to continue to support our population during this time. 

 

If you need to order repeat prescriptions, please sign up to the NHS app and order online.  All prescriptions will be sent electronically to your nominate pharmacy or by post.  Do not collect from the practice.

 

Please do not call the practice unless you need to.  Please use the NHS111 online tools to self manage or contact your local community pharmacy.

We are now in the delay phase of our response to COVID-19 and we are advising all patients to stay at home (self-isolate) without testing for COVID-19, regardless of travel history or contact with confirmed cases, if they have:

 

a. A new continuous cough

and/or

b. A high temperature (37.8 degrees centigrade or higher)

 

Travel and contact history are no longer important for diagnosis, which is on the basis of symptoms alone. 

 

Testing will not be offered routinely to individuals staying at home
